What is AERIAL?
What are the Aerial Arts? A person who dances or performs tricks in the air is called an AERIALIST. The aerialist interacts with an apparatus that is suspended from the ceiling. The aerialist moves and interacts with one of two types of equipment; soft (fabric) or hard (bar) apparatus.
Common soft apparatus include aerial silks (also referred to as aerial fabric), aerial straps, contortion loops, aerial sling (also referred to as hammock), aerial rope and aerial net. Common hard apparatus include lyra (also known as aerial hoop) and trapeze. There are three types of trapeze: static trapeze (stationary), dance trapeze (spinning) and high flying trapeze (swinging). Other common apparatus include aerial pole. There are many variations of these general types of fabric and bar apparatus’.
